ABOUT ME

I am ROB

Open-minded

I was born in Voorschoten as the youngest son in a family of fruit and vegetable farmers. I grew up in a loving environment. A traditional family but certainly open-minded and open to other ideas, feelings and orientations. I was allowed to choose my own path, studied Garden and Landscape Design but eventually chose a career in the travel industry.

30 years of business

For over 30 years I worked in various purchasing and management positions at, among others, the larger tour operators Thomas Cook and TUI. A wonderful work environment with lots of travel and the opportunity to see some of the world. As a manager, I managed teams and was responsible for achieving commercial targets. The latter generally prevailed and there was little room for supporting and coaching my team members. This eventually broke me down and started to bother me.

Taking good care of myself

At the beginning of my career in the corporate world, I too became overworked. From that moment on, I took better care of myself by going to the gym to de-stress. Not because I like sports, on the contrary, but purely because that was the way for me to relax and train the stress out of my system. This experience eventually brought me where I am today: a coach who helps people when they are having a hard time, and a personal trainer (and nutrition coach) who takes people by the hand and motivates them to take good care of themselves.

Personal development and growth

What touched me most in my work as a manager in the travel industry were situations where people became overworked, got a burnout, lost themselves in the maze of choices, obligations and pressures from their environment and society. Not to mention the pressure from within themselves. As a result, you lose touch with yourself and your feelings. And that brings you down. A number of years ago, I therefore chose to leave the commercial world behind me and to focus completely on people: the growth, development, but also the support when things become difficult. In my coaching practice, my experience from the business world and my personal involvement come in handy. Because of my life experience, I am wellable to guide people, as a coach, in making contact with their feelings and finding their truths and answers to life questions, however diverse they may be (private, work, sexuality, relationships, stress and burn-out, balance in life, inner peace, health). I am a strong questioner and I approach the world from an analytical and pragmatic perspective, in clear and concrete language.
